For homeschool / grades 9–12

Real telescope data. A complete lab record. No astronomy background required.

ExoInquiry is a browser-based, sixteen-session exoplanet investigation for one student or siblings working with a parent facilitator. Nothing to install, no telescope to own, and no separate analysis software to learn.

LEVELGrades 9–12

Students need no prior astronomy knowledge. The parent receives the key, answers, misconceptions, and facilitation notes.

TIME12 scheduled hours

Sixteen 45-minute sessions. Your export records completed activities; it does not measure attendance.

SETUPBrowser only

Use a laptop or desktop. ExoInquiry supplies the telescope data and the guided analysis environment.

Transcript + laboratory documentation

A record of completed work, with its evidence and limits.

Saved activities combine training models and public telescope data. The export identifies recorded decisions, timestamps, sources and missing information. Parents determine attendance and any credit awarded.

Independent comparison / stored reference set

Where does your measurement sit?

Twenty archived analyses from earlier classes are shown below. Your result is the larger diamond; candidate-role analyses are visually separated.

Your measurement
1.380%
Your formal uncertainty
± 0.038%
Observed spread / all 21
0.190%
Which would you publish?

Publish both, clearly labeled: the formal uncertainty describes this fit; the observed spread shows how much results changed across archived analytical choices. Because three archived points are candidate roles, the 21-result spread is descriptive, not a same-target uncertainty estimate.

End-of-course portfolio

Download a verifiable record of your student's work.

The parent dashboard exports a signed ZIP of saved artifacts, record-preview images, decisions, timestamps, recorded sources and the final defense. Missing activities and metadata are marked explicitly. Anyone can verify the package using the published public key; your private teacher key is never shared.

  • All sixteen sessions, with completion status
  • Saved evidence and provenance records
  • Defense record and estimated rubric
  • One-page summary and activity transcript

Planned contribution pathway

Submission-ready exports are not part of this pilot.

Catalog cross-matching and an independently validated submission format are still required. Training records and recovered archive examples must not be presented as new observations. Any future submission remains the parent or teacher's responsibility, under their own account and approval.

Parent-facilitated by design

Answers and teaching notes are ready when you are.

Use your class code and private teacher key to unlock the facilitator syllabus. A parent-mode link alone never grants answer access.
